We are proud to be shortlisted for in the MakeUK Manufacturing Awards. We are shortlisted in both the Manufacturing Matters category for our work in protecting access to cash, but also in SME of the Year category.
As many of you know, Tellermate’s global HQ and manufacturing site is in Newport, Wales and has been producing cash counting equipment there for about 40 years. The majority of Tellermate’s global workforce is based out of this facility and we are committed to growth and providing new opportunities within our community.
We believe that while many have the ability to pay through a variety of methods, not everybody has access to do this. Whether it’s due to age, industry, homelessness or otherwise, many of the most vulnerable in our society only have access to cash. 1.3 million adults in the UK don’t have a bank account! If we remove cash from our society, it makes it harder to teach children how to manage their money, and also makes it very difficult to give them pocket money to go out with their friends.
While the pandemic in the short-term had an impact on demand for cash counting equipment, it actually reinforced why it’s important to optimise and automate cash processes. We are still experiencing strong demand globally and although there are still lockdowns looming, 2021 is shaping to be one of the strongest years in Tellermate’s history.
“I am thrilled that Tellermate has been shortlisted for both of these awards. It validates the work that we have been doing to protect our communities, support out workforce and service our clients through what has been a really challenging period. Initiatives such as our Employee Wellness Committee and our R&D projects reinforce Tellermate’s culture and shows our commitment to both customers and employees.” – Nathan Pennington
