Customer experience (27),

We know that this is a challenging time for everyone with all that is going on. We are all watching the development of the COVID-19 with feelings of concern, and uncertainty. We are in uncharted waters and hygiene has never been more at the forefront of people’s minds.
During this time, we want you to know that Tellermate is here to help. We have put together a few Retail Hygiene Tips for retailers still in operation, collected from the C.D.C. and W.H.O. and summarised them for you below:

Clean & Disinfect

Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials.

  • Clean registers, drawers, conveyors, touchscreens, keypads, card machine and the rest of the work space at regular intervals to minimise the spread with your organisation.
After handling boxes and carrying out stock duties, wash your hands
  • Clean “high-touch” surfaces in your stores, follow that by disinfection. This is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses. A list of EPA disinfectants to use can be found at https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2

Clean your hands often while working

If soap and water are not available use a hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • After helping customers
  • After stocking & warehousing duties
  • After handling cash and cards
  • At shift handover
  • After eating & breaks
  • After going to the toilet

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unclean hands, even when trying to stay awake during these times.

Keep hand sanitiser at all employee work spaces and around the stores, use after every contact with customers.

Practice social distancing

  • If you must go to work, put distance between yourself and other people, at least 6 feet. If customers need assistance or help, do so at a distance. Small talk with co-workers is great, but also should be kept at a distance of 6 feet.
  • If you are sick, stay home from work. Cover your coughs and sneezes and throw the used tissue in the trash and then immediately wash your hands with soap and water following the guidelines above.

This is all just commons sense and good hygiene. The chances are you’re already doing this anyway but hopefully it will serve as a reminder.
