Half of the respondents reported an average loss of at least $1,000 compared with 29 percent in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Retailers see the threats, and they are willing to invest in resources to protect their employees, customers and operations.<\/p>\n<p>Of the retailers surveyed, 53% said their companies are allocating additional technology resources and another 50% said they are allocating additional capital specific to loss prevention tools and equipment.<\/p>\n<p>While we typically think of CCTV and security measures as go-to loss prevention strategies, cash management and cash automation is a low-cost way to make big and quick gains in this area. It can positively impact your operations, provide an audit trail and maximise your efficiency with the staff you have.<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tellermate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/iStock-1217833715-dashboards-web.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"792\" height=\"401\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>Why invest?<\/h3>\n<p>Gary Smith LPC, Senior Director for Asset Protection at Walmart,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/losspreventionmedia.com\/prioritizing-asset-protection-at-walmart\/\">told Loss Prevention Magazine<\/a>\u00a0that cash management is, <em>\u201cstill an important piece that loss prevention and asset protection should be looking at.\u00a0It\u2019s still an area where you can make a quantifiable difference in the expense piece.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Automating cash management tasks, such as cash counting, helps to streamline processes, and solves several business problems such as:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Increases efficiency for cashiers and managers and generate time savings<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Delivers cash visibility at shift changeovers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Prevents staff miscounts and inaccuracies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Identifies sources of shrink\/ cash loss \/ theft<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Improves your ability to respond to incidents quickly<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Reduces the be a core part of the loss prevention role, but understanding the costs involved is an important part of the overall business profitability story.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Lawson, Director of Asset Protection for Goodwill of Southeast Wisconsin, estimates that his organization is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tellermate.com\/us\/products\/cash-counting-machine\/\">saving two to four hours per
